Product Description
Nimonic 80A tube is produced through vacuum induction melting followed by precision casting, hot piercing, and seamless tube drawing to achieve optimized microstructure throughout the tube wall. The seamless construction eliminates potential weak points associated with welded seams, providing superior reliability for pressure-containing and structural applications. Available in outside diameters from 6 mm to 100 mm with wall thicknesses tailored to specific application requirements.
The precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium structure provides exceptional sustained strength at elevated temperatures, with stress-rupture values exceeding 280 MPa at 700°C for 1000-hour life. The alloy exhibits outstanding oxidation resistance, with minimal scaling at service temperature due to the stable chromium oxide protective layer. Thermal cycling capability is exceptional, allowing thermal transients and thermal shock without loss of mechanical properties or integrity.
Nimonic 80A tube demonstrates superior fatigue strength even at elevated service temperatures, making it ideal for applications involving pressure cycling or vibration. The material's excellent ductility when aged ensures good damage tolerance and impact resistance, allowing components to withstand manufacturing and handling loads without brittle failure. The tube can be supplied in seamless form or with precision threading, grooves, or other specialized internal or external profiles.
Seamless Nimonic 80A tube continues to be the preferred material for critical aerospace thermal systems, industrial power generation heat exchangers, and specialized applications where reliability under extreme conditions is non-negotiable. The material's extensive design database, proven performance history in demanding service, and established manufacturing processes provide engineers with confidence in material selection for the most challenging applications.
